A DeKalb County bridge that was built in 1873 is in need of repair after a truck driver's mistake. Many of the Spencerville Covered Bridge's supports and beams were snapped when a semi-truck trailer from Illinois crossed Wednesday. Officials tell our partners at Indiana's NewsCenter the damage does not appear to be permanent.
The bridge was built in 1873 and is a National Historic Landmark.
A modern bridge able to fit a trailer is located at nearby County Road 68.
Deputies tell INC the floor of the structure was unharmed by the incident.
