News Release

Upland, Ind. -- Taylor University officials announced today that construction on a new $10 million residence hall will begin immediately. The construction of the 150-bed facility is expected to be complete by the start of the 2013-2014 academic year.

"The decision to build a new residence hall was not entered into lightly," said Taylor President Dr. Eugene B. Habecker. "In the past 20 years, our enrollment has grown by nearly 200 students; in the meantime we have added 100 beds. As a result, a number of our junior and senior students have lived in authorized off-campus housing. Given our historic emphasis on making disciples and educating the whole person, it has long been our wish that our incoming freshmen could benefit from the spiritual maturity of our upperclassmen. We believe this new on-campus residence facility will even more fully engage our students in the residential, incarnational experience that is a hallmark of the Taylor University experience."

The building will be constructed on the south side of the Taylor campus near already existing residence facilities Wengatz, Olson, Bergwall, English and Gerig Halls. It will connect to Gerig Hall via an atrium.
