The first official events of a highly-anticipated golf tournament will not take place as scheduled. Organizers of BMW Championship week at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel say the celebrity challenge and corporate cup will not occur Monday. The host course, Crooked Creek Golf Club in Carmel, will be closed following weekend rain.

Golf, Ill. – Sunday, Sept. 2… Due to inclement weather, the Celebrity Shootout and Corporate Cup, the first official events of BMW Championship week, will not be held on Monday, Sept.3, and the host club – Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Ind. – will be closed, Western Golf Association tournament officials have announced.
While the Celebrity Shootout will not be rescheduled, Monday practice round tickets will be honored on Tuesday or Wednesday of tournament week. On Tuesday, The PGA TOUR’s top 70 stars will begin their practice rounds at 8 a.m., with practice play continuing throughout the day. Gates will open Tuesday at 7 a.m. Wednesday’s main event is the Gardner Heidrick Pro-Am, with 52 teams consisting of one PGA TOUR star and three amateurs competing in an 18-hole competition. Cameras are allowed on the course Tuesday and Wednesday only.
“While we’re unable to move the Celebrity Shooutout to another date, we encourage ticket holders to come to the course on Tuesday or Wednesday to see the TOUR’s best up close and in action,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA’s vice president of tournaments. “We apologize for any inconvenience canceling the Celebrity Shootout may have caused for our patrons.”
