Taylor University is planning a dedication ceremony today for nearly $4 million in athletic facility improvements. The projects include a new football and soccer stadium, baseball diamond and cross country course.

Upland, Ind. – Taylor University officials will hold dedication ceremonies for new and newly-updated athletic facilities at 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 27, in the football/soccer stadium.
The program will officially dedicate recently completed projects that include:
1. A new football/soccer stadium with artificial turf, lights, new scoreboard, and new bleachers
2. Wheeler Field: a state-of-the-art practice field for football and soccer with artificial turf and lights
3. Winterholter Field: a new baseball diamond with an artificial turf infield and dugouts
4. A new natural turf football practice field
5. A new cross country course west of the campus
The sports complex and baseball field improvements cost an estimated $3.9 million. The funds were gifts provided by alumni, parents and friends of the university.
“Taylor University has long recognized the value of our intercollegiate athletic program is not measured only in terms of wins and losses, but also by their impact on the lives of our students, community and alumni,” said Dr. Eugene B. Habecker, President of Taylor University. “We are so grateful that this vision is shared by these alumni, parents and friends who have shown their approval with their sacrificial and generous support of this important project. We are very excited that in the coming months our athletes will be able to practice and compete in facilities that match their outstanding achievements.”
“It is the commitment and foresight of these friends of Taylor that made these projects possible,” said Dr. Angie Fincannon, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Taylor University. “These new and upgraded facilities are among our conference’s finest. There has been a lot of interest in the project from its beginning and we believe the new and upgraded facilities will impact the entire athletic program at Taylor. We are grateful to God for His blessings that have made all of this possible.”
