Switzerland-based Nestlé is considering adding production at its operation in Anderson. The move would be a $166 million investment and could create more than 100 jobs at the plant. City Economic Development Director Greg Winkler says the company is deciding whether it will expand in Anderson or another U.S. city.
The Anderson City Council also has to grant final approval to a $14 million tax abatement request, which is scheduled to be voted on next month.
Members have voted unanimously for initial approval, based on the job creation plans and the $14 million in property taxes the expansion would pump into the area over two decades.
Winkler says Nestlé has invested more than $580 million in the Indiana operation over the years and currently employs around 600.
