Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce President Jack Hess has taken another job. He will become executive director of the newly-formed Institute for Coalition Building, which is part of the Bartholomew County-based Community Education Coalition.

Columbus Area Chamber President, Jack Hess, has announced his acceptance of a position as the Executive Director for the newly formed Institute for Coalition Building, formed under the Community Education Coalition, effective October 31, 2012.

The Chamber has achieved significant milestones these past six years under the leadership of Jack Hess and the Chamber team. In 2009, the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) honored the Columbus Chamber with its National Chamber of the Year award. Prior to this, the Columbus Area Chamber was named the Indiana Chamber of the Year in 2008.

Paula Hartwell, Columbus Area Chamber Board Chairman, stated, “Jack has served the Chamber for the past 12 years on the Board of Directors and as its President. He is an extremely gifted individual, with a passion for the community of Columbus. Through his leadership, this Chamber has not only received national recognition, but most importantly, has provided its members with resources that will enable and foster economic growth. The programs and initiatives that he and his team have integrated into this community have contributed to the national recognition the Columbus Area Chamber and the community is receiving. He has demonstrated a vested interest in our community and we’re very thankful that he plans to remain here and that he will continue to be an invaluable resource for the economic well-being of the Columbus area.”

The Executive Committee of the Chamber has formed a search committee to fill this important community leadership role quickly as possible. The search team will conduct a comprehensive search to include local, regional and national candidates to find the best suited candidate.

The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce engages its members in the pursuit of excellence and economic growth by fostering an innovative business environment and a world-class community. It was named the Indiana Chamber of the Year in 2008 and the National Chamber of the Year in 2009.
