A partnership between Taylor University and Fort Wayne-based Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. has trained more than 50 employees through a continuing education program. The company says the four-year Professional Development Training initiative offered a "unique" way to earn MBA credits.

UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor University and Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company recently wrapped up a partnership which helped 51 Brotherhood Mutual employees continue their education.
Leaders from Taylor's MBA Program and Brotherhood Mutual worked together to create a unique program combining classroom learning with real-world, on-the-job projects. In completing the program, employees received the opportunity to earn CEU credit or MBA credit. Three groups of employees completed the Professional Development Training during the course of the four-year partnership, which finished in July 2012.
"We wanted a meaningful training program that would be useful for employees and the company," says Kathleen Turpin, vice president, human resources at Brotherhood Mutual. "The PDP is designed to encourage participants to ask questions, get involved, and take initiative. We've uncovered skills and talents within our workforce that we didn’t know we had, and we’re putting them to work for the company every day."
