News Release
Saturday is “President Beverley Pitts Day” in Indianapolis, according to a proclamation from Mayor Greg Ballard, marking the final day on the job for the leader of the University of Indianapolis.
Pitts is retiring after seven years at the helm of the 5,500-student private university. She is UIndy’s eighth president and the first woman to hold the position.
The mayor’s office presented the written proclamation to Pitts last week at a farewell reception, where she also received the governor’s coveted Sagamore of the Wabash award.
UIndy’s ninth president, Robert Manuel, will begin work in July after six years as dean of the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University.
