News Release

Bloomington, Ind. -- Bloomington has been chosen as one of six finalists across the country for the Best of Food category. For the second year in a row Rand McNally and USA TODAY have teamed up to create a community of road travelers reviewing the best stops on America’s highways and byways, from small towns to the points of interest in and between them -- the Best of the Road.

On June 15 the Road Rally teams met in Washington D.C. for the big kick-off. The teams were told which category they would be judging and which towns they would be visiting during their cross country tour ending in Seattle, WA, where the winner will be announced July 16. Bloomington’s team is the Road Bros and they will be in Bloomington June 25-26.

The community kick-off for the visit will take place Monday, June 25 at 10am at the Bloomington Banquet Sculpture, 401 N. Morton Street. For more information on the event, to learn about the judges and to follow their progress during their visit go to www.visitbloomington.com/bestoftheroad .

“We are so excited to be chosen as one of the finalists, our culinary offerings are certainly among the best anywhere. We are fortunate to have such high quality, diverse, one-of-a-kind restaurants that make for a great dining scene and enhance Bloomington as a great destination,” says Mike McAfee, Executive Director of Visit Bloomington.
