Evansville Approves Roberts Stadium Demolition
The Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation has unanimously approved Mayor Lloyd Winnecke's plan to demolish Roberts Stadium. It involves converting the area into green space.
Winnecke came to his conclusion after convening a task force that came up with hundreds of potential new uses, including a swimming facility and an extreme sports park.
He said none of the plans would help the site compete with the recently completed Ford Center.
In addition, Winnecke said many of the proposals were not financially practical.
