The interactive arm of Indianapolis-based Emmis Communications Corp. (Nasdaq: EMMS) is holding a news conference Monday to roll out an HD Radio enabled smartphone. The announcement is being held at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas. Emmis Chief Technology Officer Paul Brenner touched on the plans and other cutting-edge radio technology during an interview with Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick.
Emmis has been working on the project with computer chip maker Intel Inc. (Nasdaq: INTC) and iBiquity Digital Corp., which developed HD Radio.
Emmis Interactive is already touting the HD Radio smartphone technology announcement on its website.
Brenner is being honored this year by the NAB with the organization's Engineering Achievement Award during this week's Las Vegas show.
Emmis Communications is the parent company of WIBC-FM and Network Indiana, which are news gathering partners of Inside INdiana Business.
