Hoosier Invention is Official Indy 500 Cooler

InsideINdianaBusiness.com Report

Five years ago, Andrew Shelton set out to find a better way to move a cooler from the car to a tailgate or stadium. His answer, the TrackPack Cooler, is now the official cooler of the Indianapolis 500. Shelton, who bills his backpack as a way to dispense cold ones with "a flick of the wrist," says it is now available in more than 1,500 stores nationwide, including Macy's Inc. (NYSE: M). In an interview that will air this weekend on Inside INdiana Business Television, Shelton talks about the secret to his success.

Shelton first showcased his product on Inside INdiana Business in April of 2007 as a start up company.

He credits a hands-on focus on the racing community for the TrackPack's success.

He traveled to dozens of race tracks around the country to find out what fans wanted in a portable cooler and also began setting up sales booths allowing TrackPack owners to swap out thawed gel-packs for frozen ones.
