The Marion City Council has unanimously approved a $30 million bond for a sports arena. The facility will house a developmental hockey team. The 4,100-seat complex could be finished by July 2012.
The arena is tentatively known as the Marion Sports and Entertainment Center. The facility will be home for a USHL team owned by Game 7 Seven LLC. Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold says the arena could also be used for concerts and other sporting events. The complex would employ up to 250 full- and part-time workers. The developer hopes the first game could be played at the center in September of 2012.
