Plainfield, Ind. -- Duke Energy has named Mark LaBarr area manager for its north central area, which covers Hamilton, Boone, Henry and Madison counties.

In Boone County and portions of Hamilton County, LaBarr replaces John Morrison, who has taken a new position working with the company’s largest industrial customers. In the Fishers, Ind., area and Madison County, LaBarr replaces Kurt Phegley, who assumes area manager responsibilities in Duke Energy Indiana’s southwest area. In Henry County, LaBarr replaces Mark Thompson, who was promoted to senior business relations executive.

LaBarr joined Duke Energy in 1986 and has worked in distribution engineering at Carmel and Noblesville district offices and most recently led the transmission engineering group for Indiana.

“One of the advantages of being a Duke Energy area manager is having the opportunity to represent Duke Energy in the community working with energetic people so dedicated to the cities and towns we serve,” LaBarr said. “My focus will be on economic development and community relations. We value the communities we serve and I look forward to being very involved.”

LaBarr, 47, earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue University at Indianapolis. His community work includes active membership in the Chambers of Commerce in the north central area. He has two daughters.
