Harley-Davidson Inc. (NYSE: HOG) is no longer considering Shelby County for a manufacturing facility. The company has released a statement saying the list of alternatives for the current operation in York, Pennsylvania has been narrowed to a location in Kentucky. A company official says the motorcycle maker does not plan to "further explore" Indiana, or a site in Tennessee, "unless something unforeseen happens."

Harley-Davidson Statement
Harley-Davidson has been conducting a "two path" assessment of how best to achieve long-term competitiveness and sustainability for its Touring and SoftailŽ motorcycle production operations, either restructuring and retaining those operations in York, PA or relocating them to an alternate U.S. location.
The Company has now narrowed the focus of its alternate site analysis to Kentucky, and expects to make a final decision on whether to relocate or remain in York by the end of the year.
Company representatives met this week with Kentucky officials to further explore plans and options. At the same time, we remain focused on the feasibility of remaining in York. A joint company union-management task force has developed a plan to restructure the York operations which provides a viable path to competitiveness, pending the ratification of a new contract that aligns with restructured operations. The Company and the York Union are currently engaged in contract negotiations.
We thank all of those who have been working diligently on the York restructuring plan, and the Kentucky alternate site plan, including government officials in both states."
