Hundreds of people are expected to attend tomorrow's dedication of the Indiana University Data Center. The new $32.7 million facility will house supercomputers Big Red and Quarry and critical equipment for all IU campuses via Indiana's high-speed fiber optic network I-Light. The Data Center, along with the IU Innovation Center and planned Cyberinfrastructure Building, form the foundation of a new IU Bloomington technology park. IU Vice President for Information Technology Brad Wheeler will discuss the new center on this week's Inside INdiana Business Television show.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's $32.7 million Data Center will be formally dedicated by IU President Michael McRobbie in a ceremony Thursday (Nov. 5).
The new facility is designed to ensure the safety and security of IU's most prized networking, computer processing and data storage equipment, including IU's Big Red and Quarry supercomputers.
Hundreds of guests are expected to gather on the Bloomington campus to celebrate and tour this new facility that will support teaching, research and administration on all Indiana University campuses while also increasing IU's competitiveness for research grants.
The public event will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Data Center, located at 2737 E. 10th St. in Bloomington. A reception and tours will immediately follow the ceremony.
The media availability will also be broadcast on the IU Video-Link. It will be also streamed live at http://www.broadcast.iu.edu.
