Press Release

New York, NY -- Venture Catalyst Springboard Enterprises, in partnership with the New York City Investment Fund and the New York Biotechnology Association, will host a forum presenting some of the most transformational early stage life sciences companies. Twenty-two of the 32 women-led companies selected to participate in this program will present their investment opportunities at a forum on October 30 at the PricewaterhouseCoopers conference center in midtown Manhattan. The companies, selected from over 100 applicants, serve large and rapidly growing markets and represent a wide range of opportunities within the sector including drug platforms, devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, health care products and health IT.

New York City has all the ingredients of a thriving biotech ecosystem - Nobel laureates, lab technicians, strong academic medical centers, talented researchers and venture capital. The companies presenting at AllThingsLifeSciences 2009 are most interested in engaging this community in supporting their ventures. In addition to the individual company presentations, the forum will feature as its keynote speaker, distinguished scientist Dr. Peter Corr, co-founder and general partner of Celtic Therapeutics and formerly a member of the Pfizer leadership team overseeing
all of Pfizer's businesses, and remarks by Kathryn Wylde, President & CEO of the Partnership for New York City, Maria Gotsch, President and CEO of the New York City Investment Fund, Nathan Tinker, Executive Director of the New York City Biotechnology Association and Seth Pinsky, President of New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC).

"We are pleased to bring these exceptional companies to New York which is home to the nation's most successful pharmaceutical titans, the world's most prestigious medical centers and offers a perfect ecosystem for emerging life sciences companies," noted Kay Koplovitz, co-founder and chairman of Springboard Enterprises. "Springboard has an outstanding ten-year record of recruiting, qualifying, coaching and showcasing great women-led ventures commercializing remarkable technologies that deliver positive returns to their investors, and we are pleased to showcase them in the financial capital of the world."

Over 100 companies from the U.S. and abroad applied to take part in
AllThingsLifeSciences. The Springboard AllThingsLifeSciences 2009 program included a two-day session in July in Washington, DC where, in addition to an intensive coaching workshop, companies were invited to attend a briefing session at the White House and meetings with members of Congress. Expert coaching teams were assigned to each company to assist with refining their presentations, facilitating connections and opening doors to business opportunities.
