Activities are scheduled today at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana in Princeton to mark the start of production for the Highlander sport utility vehicle. Spokeswoman Kelly Dillon says the vehicle is the automaker's 12th North American-built model and will be produced on the plant's second production line. She says Toyota pumped $450 million into the project, the company's only investment this year in its U.S. production operations.

After production of the Tundra was moved to San Antonio, Texas, the assembly line was retooled to handle the Highlander.
The plant also builds the full-size Sequoia SUV and the Sienna minivan.
Team members will have a small celebration in their shop areas in this morning, and a reception for community leaders will be held later in the afternoon.
