A key employer in Shelbyville is indefinitely idling production. Meridian Automotive Systems says the decision impacts 295 workers. The company made the announcement in a letter to Shelbyville Mayor Scott Ferguson.

Ferguson has told the Shelbyville News that he hopes production will eventually resume.
Meridian Automotive Systems announced plans last month to cut approximately 200 workers at the Shelbyville facility.
The company has three other plants in Indiana.
