Press Release
(January 30, 2009 – Carmel, Indiana) – Two Carmel business professionals have formed the Business Roundtable Network, a relationship-based networking organization for business professionals, entrepreneurs, and organizational leaders.
Co-founder Dr. Charles Shinaver, III, a psychologist coach who helps business professionals cope with stress, improve relationships and balance work and life demands saw a need for a different type of networking group last summer when the economy started to falter. “Right now, business professionals and small business owners are really looking for both business support and emotional support to help keep themselves and their businesses energized. We believe that BRN will fulfill a void not offered by traditional business networking organizations.”
Brian Koning, BRN co-founder and owner of BTK & Associates, a marketing consulting firm in Carmel, helped develop the organization’s meeting format. “We facilitate roundtable discussions related to developing ourselves, our relationships and our businesses. Our four-week rotational topic format includes discussions on business/self-improvement, marketing/technology, an open forum where members pick the topic, and a monthly networking event,” says Koning.
The organization launched in September of 2008 and has been meeting weekly as an informal networking group on Carmel’s west side. The co-founders recently formed and registered the business under the name, BRN Enterprises, LLC and will operate as Business Roundtable Network. BRN plans to add additional chapters in the Indianapolis area in 2009.
Dr. Shinaver also says that the group will maintain a high profile as a local volunteer organization. “We promote the importance of servant leadership. One of our recent projects was to donate our members’ time to help the American Red Cross in Hamilton County organize their food bank after they received food donations from the community. It was a great way for us to give back to the community while developing deeper relationships with each other.”
Anyone interested in learning more about the Business Roundtable Network is invited to attend either the Carmel West chapter meetings from noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Majestic Plaza office complex located at 9640 N. Augusta Drive, near 96th and Michigan Rd. or the Carmel North chapter meetings on Wednesdays from noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Old National Bank in Clay Terrace.
