Press Release
Avon, Indiana – March 05, 2008. Indiana based Morning Star Energy, LLC (MSE) today announced several development milestones toward building and operating a nameplate 110
million gallon per year ethanol production facility near the town of Clinton in Vermillion County, Indiana.
• MSE has entered into a supply agreement with Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) for grain procurement. ADM owns and operates 138 U.S. grain elevators with the collective storage capacity of 342 million bushels. When fully operational, the MSE
ethanol production facility is projected to process up to 40 million bushels of corn and grain sorghum annually. ADM now has the exclusive right to manage this material need for MSE.
• MSE has entered into an agreement with Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LLC for the marketing, sales and distribution of MSE’s Distillers’ Grains. When fully operational, the MSE production facility is projected to produce as much as 25,000 tons of dry distillers grain per month, which is typically marketed as a high protein animal feed. Land O’Lakes Purina Feed is a leading animal nutrition company in North America with feed manufacturing facilities spread across the United States and will now have the exclusive right to manage these responsibilities for MSE.
• MSE has received an exemption from building height restrictions and a special exception for on-site bulk fuel storage from the Vermillion County Board of Zoning Appeals and the Vermillion County Plan and Zone Commission.
• Preliminary water exploration indicates an adequate water supply on the proposed MSE site which should meet the needs of future operations. These efforts are on-going.
• The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued an air emissions permit to MSE for the proposed facility.
Morning Star Energy’s construction schedule has slipped from the previous estimated start date, due in part to several regulatory challenges. MSE believes those challenges will be successfully
resolved prior to construction start. The current estimate for construction start is Q3 2008. The Morning Star Energy project team has continued to enjoy, and greatly appreciates, the support of
Vermillion County government agencies and the Vermillion County Economic Development Council.
