Purdue interim Provost Victor Lecthenberg says IUPUI offers students an ideal location to connect with the motorsports industry.

He does not know about any similar programs in the Midwest and says there is a limited number across the country.

IUPUI is planning to offer the bachelor's degree this fall, pending approval by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

Purdue expects enrollment to be 21 over the first few years and increase to more than 100 by the fourth year.
