Getrag Human Resources Director Randy Cyman explains why construction is on hold.
Getrag confirms for Inside INdiana Business that construction of a $530 million transmission plant in Tipton County has been suspended indefinitely. Getrag Human Resource Director Randy Cyman says construction is on hold while Chrysler and Getrag work out a supply agreement. Construction was halted on December 21.

He says the two parties are meeting daily to try to iron out some unspecified issues. Cyman says he does not believe the project is in jeopardy. He says both parties realize the value of the new state-of-the-art transmission plant.
A Chrysler official tells us that the company is optimistic construction can resume as early as next week and not have any significant impact on the timeline.
The facility is scheduled to be finished in 2009 and the venture would employ about 1,400 people. Cyman also does not believe the construction suspension will impact the project's timeline.
