Evansville, Ind. -- GAGE is pleased to release an image of the façade chosen for the Innovation Pointe Building. The façade is made up of Trespa panels and incorporates a glass canopy over the main entry. The basic façade is accessorized with an oversized Plasma monitor for event announcements that is visible from the Main Street walkway.

“It is important that the exterior of Innovation Pointe reflect all of the great work that’s going on inside the building,” said Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, chairman of GAGE. “The façade will make Innovation Pointe a landmark along Main Street as it joins the other projects that are furthering downtown revitalization.”

Separate canopy covered entrances frame the main entrance providing direct access to the newly established art gallery operated by the Arts Council of Southwest Indiana and to the retail/bistro space on the east side of the building. “It is truly inspiring to see the design for this façade complement the state of the art technology inside this building in creating a vortex for economic growth in the greater Evansville region,” said Joe Wallace, President and CEO of GAGE. “GAGE has been fortunate to have the cutting edge architectural firm VPS Architecture to create a façade design that reflects the knowledge based nature of GAGE while utilizing environmentally friendly materials”, Wallace added.

The Evansville firm, VPS Architecture conceived the design and will oversee its installation by Industrial Contractors Incorporated. “We have given the building an entirely new face and have added gentle touches of new color and a much finer scale,” said Sarah Schuler, professional partner with VPS, whose vision led to the articulation of the façade. “We feel the up-to-the-minute look of the façade and entrance fulfills GAGE’s vision of a technically advanced center for economic development in the heart of the city.” added Mike Shoulders, President of VPS Architecture.

The Innovation Pointe Building houses all three operating divisions of GAGE along with the Arts Council of Southwest Indiana. USI, the academic partner of GAGE will begin offering continuing education classes in the Innovation Pointe Building during the spring semester of 2008. GAGE was formed by combining City and County economic development efforts with the Certified Technology Park, the Small Business Incubator, and Downtown Evansville, Inc. It will serve as the focal point for economic development, assist existing businesses with expansion, and provide support for early stage entrepreneurs and start up companies.
