IPFW Dedicates Music Hall
Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne has dedicated the new John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center. The $25 million facility features the 1,600-seat Auer Performance Hall and the 250-seat Rhinehart Recital Hall.

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) officially dedicated The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center this afternoon (Thursday, Oct. 4) during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the new building.
IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell welcomed France Córdova, Purdue University’s 11th president, members of the John and Ruth Rhinehart family, state and local elected officials, representatives from the companies who designed and built the structure, and Department of Music administrators, faculty, and students. Wartell thanked the Rhinehart family for their generosity, noting that without their support as well as that from other families and individuals, projects such as the music building could never come to fruition.
The acoustically superb Rhinehart Music Center was designed by Fort Wayne-based Schenkel Shultz and will serve the university and the community. It features the 1,600-seat Auer Performance Hall and the 250-seat Rhinehart Recital Hall, which will be used by the IPFW Department of Music, the IPFW Omnibus Lecture Series, and community arts partners. It also features a number of rehearsal halls, studios, and practice rooms. Planning for the $25 million dollar facility began in Nov. 2005, with funding coming from the state and through generous donations from the community.
