The company on Wednesday received preliminary approval from the Vanderburgh County Council for 10-year tax abatements for both buildings.
Shoe Carnival Chief Financial Officer Kerry Jackson says the new distribution center, which will sit on 35-acres across from the Vanderburgh Industrial Park, will double the size of its current facility and is expected to create 62 new jobs over the next five years.
The new headquarters will be located on the city's eastside. The company, which began with a single store in 1978, has grown to more than 260 stores in 23 states.
