The Federal Emergency Management Agency has purchased more than 1,000 trailers from the Indiana dealer to house victims of the disaster. Tom Raper Director of Operations Ed Unger says this is the largest order they’ve ever gotten from a single consumer.

Unger anticipates that FEMA may order even more trailers once officials have a chance to better determine the need.

The deal was reached after Tom Raper officials saw the need for housing and called FEMA to see if they would like to buy any trailers. Unger says the company chose not to mark the trailers up for FEMA as other dealers have. He says Tom Raper is only making a small profit on the sales.

Tom Raper is also accepting donations of clothing and personal items for the hurricane victims and will take at least five cargo trailers worth of goods down to the victims.
