New legislation aimed at providing incentives for the film industry is being heard at the Statehouse. Pizzo told lawmakers that if the incentives are right he plans to shoot two upcoming movies in the state. Astin, who is also an independent film producer, says he has ten projects he would like to bring to Indiana as well.

The actor/producer also explained why he has such a fondness for Indiana, his wife of 13 years is from Rolling Prairie, near the LaPorte, St. Joseph County line.

The legislation being proposed would provide five incentives to filmmakers, among those would be a waiver of sales tax related to the purchase of products for film production.

Astin says another benefit to the state would be an increase in tourism. He says when shooting "Lord of the Rings" in New Zealand, the country saw a big boost in tourism dollars.
