BioAfix, LLC, won the top prize of $25,000 in the Opportunity for Indiana Business Plan Competition final which was held at IPFW on Monday, Nov. 22. Second place and $15,000 went to Zoom Information Systems, also of Fort Wayne, while Warsaw-based Zieben Engineering Systems, Inc. took the third place prize of $10,000.

According to its submitted plan, BioAfix is a "*wholly owned subsidiary of Schwartz Biomedical, LLC, a tissue engineering research and development firm that creates and develops technologies for license and sale to the major worldwide orthopaedic manufacturers." The company proposes to manufacture a medical device that will aid in the healing of cartilage tissue in the knee.
Zoom Information Systems had developed a new technology to "*enable the collection, storage, and sharing of real-time transportation information," such as driver information, traffic management, road conditions and repair, fleet management, and many other applications.
Zieben Engineering Systems, Inc. is a startup operation that was developed to "*provide superior design engineering and prototype fabrication services to the medical device industry."
