INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - How to make smarter decisions, discover new opportunities, minimize risks and control costs. These are the type of questions which keep business leaders awake at night.
The Indiana University Kelley School of Business and Indianapolis based IT consulting firm Allegient are proud to announce a partnership designed to harness the power of Business Analytics through the creation of a professional education course. The initial May "pilot" course will be taught in Allegient's Customer Immersion Experience (CIE) lab by two leading professors from the IU Kelley School of Business. The course is targeted at businesses looking to transform multiple data sources into actionable decision making tools, through the implementation of Microsoft suite of analytic solutions.
"Big Analytics is the next big corporate revolution. The explosion of information we can obtain through the Microsoft stack (SQL, SharePoint and Excel) transforms decision making from an intuition to fact," remarks Bill Russell Executive Vice President at Allegient LLC.
Russell goes on to say "Allegient has teamed up with professors from IU who are on the cutting edge of business analytics. We are going to offer a three day professional education course to give analysts a more data centric insight to better their marketing and business decisions. Analysts who attend our Business Intelligence course will receive the tools they need to be effective now and obtain their next customer through predictive metrics."
"Business analysts are in high demand. Universities everywhere are adapting to emphasize business analytics. This is a constantly evolving science," remarked Dr. Frank Acito, Director of the Institute for Business Analytics at the IU Kelley School of Business. "The course we are going to offer with Allegient will evolve and grow as business analysis tools become more prevalent."
The facts support 'Business Analytics' A 2011 study conducted by the consulting firm McKinsey, projected that the United States needs 140,000 to 190,000 more workers with "deep analytical" expertise and 1.5 million more data-literate managers.
"The greatest innovations have been made by entrepreneurs and visionaries through gut decisions and intuition. Business analytics does not replace vision, it does the opposite. It encourages visionaries to take that risk by offering analytical proof," commented Russell.
"Data-driven decision making is already being adapted by some of the country's largest and most innovative companies," said IU Kelley School of Business Sr. Lecturer Jay Newquist. "We want to make sure Indiana does not fall behind."
Courses will be offered at Allegient's headquarters located at 201 W 103rd Street in Indianapolis.
The first course is scheduled for May 13th through the 15th.
