Severe weather that has caused damage throughout the state is being blamed for a roof collapse that led to a chemical spill in northeast Indiana. Our partners at 21Alive WPTA in Fort Wayne report officials believe heavy snow caused part of the roof at a Performance Food Group facility in Kendallville to cave in, damaging pipes that carry anhydrous ammonia.
The leak was contained yesterday afternoon.
21Alive reports no one was hurt, but 30 people were exposed to the ammonia leak and 8 people received treatment for symptoms.
Between 1,000 and 2,000 workers are employed at the Noble County facility.
