Greater Lafayette Commerce Honors 'Top 10 Under 40'

Greater Lafayette Commerce and Tippy Connect Young Professionals have named the recipients of this year's "Top 10 Under 40" awards. The honorees include the president of a property management company and the executive director of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.

Lafayette, Ind. -- Tippy Connect Young Professionals and Greater Lafayette Commerce recognized ten outstanding young professionals in Tippecanoe County this afternoon at an awards luncheon at the Lafayette Country Club. This award celebrates and promotes the contributions of young professionals in our community.

The winners were nominated by coworkers, peers, friends and family community wide. The criteria for nominating a young professional is as follows, must be 21 to 39 years of age, live in the greater Lafayette area, excel in professional development, demonstrate servant leadership and exhibit strong leadership skills, and be actively involved in the community. The nominees were then reviewed by a panel of seven community leaders and selected based on professional achievement and philanthropic dedication.

The 2013 Tippy Connect Top 10 Under 40 Award winners are:

-Jennifer Russell, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones
Jennifer is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, a Certified Financial Planner, graduate of Leadership Lafayette and 2012 Grace Bauer Founders Award Recipient. She volunteers with the Franciscan Alliance St. Elizabeth Foundation as a board member, 30% Club, Greater Lafayette Commerce, Tippecanoe Business Network memberships, and Faith Community Center Clothing volunteer.

-Kat Braz, Art Director, Purdue University Alumni Association
Kat is a graduate of Purdue University. She is a recipient of the Pride of CASE and Women of Innovation YWCA awards, a graduate of Leadership Lafayette and on the board of directors for the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. She also volunteers with CASA and Read to Succeed and is a member of One Size Fits All improve comedy group.

-Ashley G. Scott, Assistant Director, Admissions, Purdue University
Ashley is a graduate of Purdue University in Public Relations and Rhetorical Advocacy. She is the recipient of the 2013 Volunteer of the Year for the Greater Lafayette chapter of the Indiana Black Expo and 2011 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, Purdue University. Ashley is the creator of the Black Thought Collective and founder of the Black Professionals of Greater Lafayette.

-Julia Brian, Human Resources Manager, Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health
Julia is a graduate of Purdue University and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist. She volunteers as a board member of the Tippecanoe County Child Care Center, Ultimate Pink Party committee leader, Kathryn Weil Center community advisory board member and an avid runner who aims to complete at least 10 races a year.

-Andrew A. Weintraut, Director of Corporate Relations, College of Engineering, Purdue University
Andrew is a graduate of Wabash College. He is involved in many professional organizations including NACRO, CASE and EDF. Andrew is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette and volunteers on the Member and Development Strategic Plan Committee for the Lafayette Central Catholic Schools.

-Jennifer Weida, owner/Chiropractor, Chiropractic Solutions
Jennifer holds a Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine from National University of Health Science. She is also a manager of Universal Fitness and Training, Visalus Sciences regional director, board member of Beacon Academy and volunteers with the Almost Home Humane Society, American Red Cross and Junior Achievement. She is a member of BNI, AWBO, MAFIA, KRAB and SCCA.

-Lindsey Martin, Dean of Students, Oakland High School, Lafayette School Corporation
Lindsey earned her Masters of Science in Education Leadership from Purdue University. She has also been awarded the 212 Extra Degree of Effort Award (2010 & 2011) and 2010 Community Member Making a Difference. Lindsey is also the chair of the Jefferson HS AdvancED committee.

-Courtney Henchon, Administrative Director Physicians Practices, IU Health Arnett
Courtney holds a Masters of Science in Nursing & MBA from Anderson University. She received the “Salute to Nurses” certificate of recognition and is LEAN Green Belt certified. She volunteers with Sigma Theta Tau, Tippecanoe County Child Care board of directors and March of Dimes, Sagamore Division, board of directors

-Jennie Kirby, President, Kirby Realty & Property Management, Inc.
Jennie is a graduate of Purdue University. She holds a CMP from the Institute of Real Estate Management, a Broker License with the Indiana Rea Estate Commission, a member of NAR, LRAOR, GLC and BNI. Jennie is a volunteer with the Lemonade Day committee and volunteers vacancies at Market Square for nonprofit organizations.

-Sara Mummey, Executive Director, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra
Sara is a graduate of DePauw University with a baccalaureate of Musical Arts. She holds a Certificate in Fundraising Management. Sara is the youngest Executive Director ever for the LSO. A graduate of Leadership Lafayette she is involved in the Quality of Life council, private voice instructor and choreographer for local school musicals and performs with Civic Theater and Heartland Productions.

Tippy Connect, the first young professionals’ organization in Tippecanoe County, was founded in 2006. Tippy Connect engages young professionals in the community through professional development, community involvement and networking by connecting current and future leaders.
