Massachusetts-based Hologic Inc. (Nasdaq: HOLX) says it will begin laying off employees at the end of March as part of a plan to close its Indianapolis facility. In a notice to the state, the women's health device maker says it will let go a total of 140 employees and shut down the location by this summer.

Holigic makes diagnostics products, medical imaging systems and surgical products for the women's health industry.
The company says the layoffs and closure are expected to be permanent. The WARN notice to the state says none of the employees are represented by unions.
