Outgoing Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett is moving to another state. The Florida State Board of Education has selected him as the next commissioner of education. Bennett lost his re-election bid last month in Indiana.
Democrat Glenda Ritz will move into the Indiana post next month.
Bennett was among three finalists for the Florida position and was selected Wednesday morning.
He has also served as the superintendent of Greater Clark County Schools and an assistant superintendent at New Albany Floyd County Schools.
