Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Stu Summers says broadband access today is comparable to electricity 100 years ago. He says it boosts economic growth and quality of life.

Metronet says each project would include approximately $15-$20 million in private investment, and could result in retail, technician and maintenance jobs.

The Lafayette Economic Development Commission has already issued a recommendation for the city council to approve financing. The Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission is scheduled to take a vote on the project during its October meeting.
