Officials will break ground this morning on a major economic development project. The estimated $2.6 billion Ohio River Bridges Project will connect southeast Indiana with Louisville. Construction is scheduled to be complete in 2017.

Jeffersonville, Ind. -- After decades of discussion, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez will join other federal, state and local officials at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville to break ground on the Ohio River Bridges Project. A month ago, Indiana awarded the first construction contract for a 3,000-foot alignment of Old Salem Road that will form part of the first exit on the Indiana side of the future East End Bridge.
