The groundbreaking for a key portion of a major economic development project in southern Indiana is set for next week. A ceremony for the East End Crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project will take place at the Port of Indiana Jeffersonville. In an interview to air this weekend on Inside INdiana Business Television, One Southern Indiana's new Chief Executive Officer Wendy Dant Chesser tells Host Gerry Dick the potential benefits of the project will be "huge" for the region.
The estimated $2.6 billion project will connect southern Indiana with Louisville.
A cost-saving plan outlined more than a year ago is designed to save $1.5 billion from original estimates.
Many southern Indiana leaders have described the project as the largest economic development need in the area.
Once complete, the new bridges should help alleviate traffic logjams across the Ohio River.
