Car Show to Pump Millions Into Evansville

The Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau is expecting thousands of car buffs to bring millions of dollars into the city this weekend. The organization says the annual Frog Follies Street Rod Car Show will generate more than $3 million for the local economy.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 37th annual Frog Follies Street Rod Car Show begins Friday, August 24 through Sunday, August 26 at the 4-H Center. Over 4,000 cars and more than 10,000 people who love cars will travel from around the country to enjoy a weekend dedicated to car talk, rallies, vendors and activities.

The E'ville Street Rod Club has fostered this event since 1975 and say it is the largest pre-'49 street rod festival in the country with people traveling from all 48 states and Canada to attend. They are also report that the festival has raised over $2 million for local charities over the years.

The Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau calculates Frog Follies will generate over $3.1 million in direct expenditures this year. Area restaurants and businesses should be prepared to be busy as the hotels report most have sold out for the weekend. To assist anyone who plans to attend but hasn’t made hotel reservations yet, the ECVB asks that you call our Visitors Center at 1-800-433-3025 to find out which hotels have availability.

The gates are open from 8AM to 4PM on Friday and Saturday and 8AM to 2PM on Sunday for spectators. Admission is $5 per person – kids under 12 are free. For more information, visit their website at www.frogfollies.org or the ECVB website at www.visitevansville.com.
