Bloomington, Indiana (August 16, 2012) – Eco Logic, LLC, an ecological restoration and consulting company founded in Bloomington in 1999, has been awarded property tax abatement from the Monroe County Council for the development of a new headquarters facility and the creation of Southern Indiana’s first native plant nursery. The development of the corporate headquarters and operations facility is expected to be completed in late 2013.
“We’re excited about the growing impact Eco Logic will have in and around Monroe County, both as an employer and as a potential agritourism resource,” said Ron Walker, President of the BEDC. “We began working with them over a year ago as they explored the potential for a significant expansion and diversification into a specialized nursery and we believe their expertise and leadership in this emerging industry will only grow,” explained Walker.
Eco Logic has emerged as an industry leader in the field of natural resource management, specializing in the management of invasive plant species and providing stewardship of native plant communities. The company currently works throughout Indiana, and has recently expanded services to include Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio. In addition to the construction of a new headquarters building, the company will develop native plant production facilities including greenhouses, growing pads and maintenance facilities. In 2015, Eco Logic plans to create a native plant retail center complete with native plant display gardens and native restoration demonstration areas.
“We’re thrilled with the support we’ve received from the community and the Monroe County Council as we make these new investments and prepare for a long-term expansion and diversification in Monroe County,” stated Spencer Goehl, Executive Director of Eco Logic. We’ve experienced steady growth since we formed the company here in 1999 and we see an increased interest in the desire for native plants in public, commercial and residential sectors throughout the Midwest and we believe we’ll be well positioned to serve those markets,” said Goehl. “Eco Logic’s native plant nursery will be unique because it will be a destination where people can see native plants in action. Our mission is to engage, educate and empower people to create a more sustainable planet through the use of native plants.”
