Mark Newman has been chosen to lead the Indiana Office of Tourism Development on an interim basis. He previously served as vice president of marketing and communications for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Lt. Governor Becky Skillman announced today Mark Newman as the new interim executive director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. He begins his new position with the state on Aug. 13.
Newman will lead the state’s efforts to promote Indiana as a tourism destination to Hoosiers and those from other states. Tourism in Indiana generates more than $10 billion a year in visitor spending.
"From north to south, east to west, Indiana has a lot to offer not only to its own people but to those who visit our state," Lt. Governor Becky Skillman said. "That is why we are tapping Mark, who is a proven strategist recognized for his ability to increase revenue and engage customers."
For the last six years, Newman has served as the vice president of marketing and communications for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He also was the chief operating officer for the Indiana Sports Corporation and served on the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.
Newman has a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts as well as a Master of Education in sport psychology from the University of Virginia. He also is a doctoral candidate in policy and evaluation.
