Evansville-based Echo Housing Corp. says it will use a $130,000 grant from a U.S. Department of Labor program to help homeless veterans find housing and employment. The nonprofit hopes to help 48 homeless vets find work by the end of the year.
ECHO Housing says it plans to use some of the funding to establish an employment assistance center.
The nonprofit assists the area's homeless population in finding safe housing and developing job skills. The organization's web site says at least 400 people are in a shelter or transitional housing on any given night in Evansville.
