News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - TechPoint, Indiana’s technology growth initiative, and its partner Ice Miller LLP will teach budding entrepreneurs how to transform their business ideas into successful startup companies at TechPoint’s Indiana Entrepreneur Bootcamp presented by Ice Miller on September 20, 2012.
The daylong seminar – being held at the Mavris Arts & Event Center in downtown Indianapolis – will feature panel discussions on a broad array of startup topics with 25 well-known and successful Indiana entrepreneurs and service professionals.
The seminar will begin with a “Year in the Life” panel featuring three entrepreneurs who
recently started their own businesses. Next, presenters will lead workshops and panel
discussions on critical operations topics like business planning, building the product, building
the management team and fundraising, to name a few. A “Lessons from the Trenches”
luncheon will feature a panel discussion with several prominent, veteran entrepreneurs. The
afternoon session – dubbed “Lessons from the Front Lines” - will be filled with more panel
discussions featuring experienced entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors.
“Ice Miller is known for working with startup companies, and we are eager to do our part to
encourage new entrepreneurs to launch their ventures by arming them with solid startup
business intelligence,” said Kristine Danz, a partner in Ice Miller’s Business Group. “Together
with TechPoint, we have assembled an all-star line-up of experienced entrepreneurs and
business professionals to share their insights into the critical matters of turning a good idea into a successful company.”
Economic recessions have historically spawned new businesses – more than half of all Fortune 500 companies got their start during a downturn – and according to the Kauffman Foundation, the latest recession helped drive entrepreneurship up in the U.S.
“Even though we see an increase in entrepreneurial activity during recessions, it is still a difficult time to start a company due to scarce credit and falling asset prices, for example,” said Jim Jay, president and CEO of TechPoint. “The Indiana Entrepreneur Bootcamp offers attendees realworld advice on how to overcome common startup obstacles and focus resources on the best practices for creating successful ventures.”
TechPoint’s Indiana Entrepreneur Bootcamp presented by Ice Miller is open to the first 100 people who register at www.techpoint.org/bootcamp. The fee is $49, which covers the cost of
the facility, seminar materials, the luncheon and other snacks and beverages.
