The Indiana Supreme Court officially has a new chief justice. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels swore in Justice Brent Dickson this morning. He had been serving as acting chief justice since Randall Shepard retired in March.
He was selected to lead the state's highest court in May by The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission.
At the time, Daniels issued a statement in support of the selection:
“To me, the commission made the right and natural choice. Brent Dickson is universally respected and has earned the complete trust of his colleagues and lawyers statewide. Any other selection would have been a surprise.”
