New Company Acquires Allen County Equipment Dealer

RPM Machinery is in the process of setting up its headquarters in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS (July 6, 2012) – Construction-equipment dealer MacDonald Machinery, established in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1965, has been acquired by Indiana-based RPM Machinery LLC, a new company focused on acquiring industrial-equipment dealerships in agricultural and construction markets.

The deal, finalized on June 29, will result in RPM becoming an authorized Case Construction Equipment dealer and acquiring MacDonald’s internet parts sales and distribution abilities. Current MacDonald’s locations in Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, South Bend and Lafayette will stay in operation and enable RPM to grow further in the Great Lakes region and across the Midwest and allow it to expand its sales, parts and service to both the agriculture and construction industries. The MacDonald Machinery name will remain with the newly purchased operations.

“MacDonald Machinery has a long reputation of great customer service, and with the current skilled employee base, it is our goal to continue building an even better support system,” said Troy Price, President and General Manager of RPM. “Having been in the machinery manufacturing, marketing and finance business since 1987, I am very excited about MacDonald Machinery’s future.”

“Selling a business that my father and I built over the past 45 years is not easy,” said Mark Johnston, previous owner of Macdonald Machinery. “MacDonald Machinery has great customers and employees. Knowing the values of the owners of RPM Machinery has made my decision easier: These guys know how to treat people right, and they understand this business very well.”

Privately owned RPM, which now has 57 employees, has chosen not to disclose the purchase price, but Price says the company plans to increase sales and the number of employees over the next three years.
