Volunteer Fair Planned For Muncie

July 2, 2012 – Muncie, IN – LEAD-ECI, East Central Indiana’s Leadership Training Institute, has announced that CONVERGE 2012 will return for the third consecutive year. This region-wide volunteer recruitment event will take place on Wednesday July 25th from 4:00pm-6:30pm at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.

Similar to a “job fair for volunteers”, CONVERGE 2012 will bring willing and talented volunteers throughout East Central Indiana face-to-face with the region’s nonprofit organizations that want and need their help the most. Non-profit organizations can reserve a booth space at the event and can post their volunteer opportunities on the Converge website. A few booth spaces are still available.

Individuals can attend CONVERGE 2012 free of charge but advanced registration at www.convergeeci.com is appreciated. Through advanced registration, individuals can view the participating organizations and the specific volunteer opportunities they will have available at CONVERGE 2012. Individuals who register can also complete a free assessment which will allow them to better understand their individual interests and skills. Further, with this year’s Event comes the launch of the re-tooled Converge Website. Much like a job board, www.convergeeci.com allows potential volunteers to match their skills and areas of interest to current volunteer openings, or return to see new opportunities year-round.

In the first two years, more than 100 volunteer connections have been made through the Converge event. “Our goals this year are to have at least 50 organizations in attendance, and 250-300 individual volunteer candidates come out, get connected, and engage by lending a hand to our community”, said Rob Keisling, Converge 2012 Event Chairperson.
