New Jersey-based Covance Inc. is seeking tax abatement for a $150 million expansion in Greenfield that could bring hundreds of jobs. The biotechnology company expects the move to create 450 jobs in the area over the next four years. Earlier this month, Elanco announced plans to add around 200 jobs in the central Indiana community.
The tax abatement plans of Elanco will be heard by the Hancock County redevelopment commission tonight and by Greenfield City Council tomorrow.
Covance will pitch their incentive requests to the county council July 11.
Executive Director of the Hancock Economic Development Council Skip Kuker says the area stands to gain around $29 million in potential salaries from a Covance expansion.
