The Greater Clark County Schools Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of a new superintendent. Andrew Melin will lead the district after most recently serving as the superintendent of Valparaiso Community Schools.
The News and Tribune reports Melin's contract calls for a base salary of $170,000, a vehicle allowance and a tax sheltered annuity.
It's a three year deal, which could be extended automatically with a strong performance evaluation.
Two members of the board voted against the hiring. They cited lack of confidence in the search process and desire to delay the hiring for a year to give Melin chance to finish his contract in Valparaiso.
The hiring motion passed on a 5-2 vote.
