The city of Indianapolis Department of Minority and Women Business Development will host a Business Opportunity Fair today. The event is designed to connect vendors with city-county entities and provide a networking opportunity.

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The City of Indianapolis Department of Minority & Women Business Development (DMWBD) will host its annual Business Opportunity Fair on Wednesday, May 23, at Riverside Park Family Center Auditorium, 2420 E. Riverside Drive. The event, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is designed to make vendors aware of business opportunities with City-County entities and many private-sector partners and to provide a networking opportunity. It is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is requested online at www.indy.gov/EventRSVP.
Representatives from all of the major City departments and County agencies will participate in the Business Opportunity Fair. Representatives from St. Vincent Hospital, Citizens Energy Group, Duke Realty, Indiana Black Expo, IU Health and others also will be present.
The DMWBD is responsible for certifying and maintaining a list of businesses that meet the criteria as a minority- or woman-owned business. The City also recognizes and lists businesses certified by the Veterans Administration. Mayor Greg Ballard’s 2008 Executive Order stating the City’s participation goals included Veterans in the City’s participation and utilization plan for the first time in the City’s history.
