Three DePauw University students who wanted to use their business backgrounds to help people have founded a company that sells patriotic ties. True Hero Ties donates half of the price of each purchase to veteran organizations.
Newill, a Zionsville native, says he and a business partner got the idea after watching a 60 Minutes interview about the large number of homeless United States military veterans. He says he hopes the company will spread awareness about veterans' needs.
Newill says the feedback on the products has been positive so far. He says the company plans to roll out another style of tie this year and introduce a product for women as well.
