News Release
INDIANAPOLIS – Jason Konesco, president of Harrison College (http://www.harrison.edu), has announced a partnership with the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce to offer a new annual scholarship for the Indy Chamber’s Education Plus program. This school year (2011-2012), Harrison College will award 15 nonrecurring $2,000 scholarships to the Education Plus program for use by adult learners looking to continue or pursue an education through Harrison College. Harrison College’s goal of increasing scholarship funding is to provide college access to a larger student population throughout Central Indiana, specifically in the Greater Indianapolis area.
Applicants must work for, or have a family member that works for, a company that is a member of the Indy Chamber, express interest in attending Harrison College to continue or pursue a college credential, and demonstrate that a college credential will provide improved career opportunities. To submit a scholarship application online, visit http://www.harrison.edu and complete the application by March 1, 2012.
“Harrison College is excited to partner with the Indy Chamber to offer this new scholarship program,” said Konesco. “At a time when many universities across the nation are raising tuition rates, we want to do everything that we can to help keep higher education affordable for students.”
“This new scholarship program is a great opportunity for adult learners to have increased access to higher education,” said Scott Miller, president of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. “Having a degree from a higher education institution will help adult learners achieve their career goals and grow the skilled workforce in our local community.”
If selected, the recipient will receive a $2000 scholarship toward a certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree in any of Harrison College’s five Schools or The Chef’s Academy starting in any of Harrison College’s four terms (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer).
The award will be divided out evenly over the first four terms ($500 per quarter) of the students’ enrollment. Individuals may only apply once, and awards are not eligible for renewal. Any student who withdraws, or changes to an ineligible program of study, automatically forfeits any remaining scholarship funds.
